From A.T. Still's theory of the osteopathic lesion to somatic dysfunction

CONTENTS

Andrew Taylor Still, M.D., D.O., coined the original concept of a lesion based on an obstruction of body fluids. He primarily referred to the bony structures, in particular the spinal column. Over the course of the 20th century, this developed into the concept of somatic dysfunction, a term that is familiar to osteopathic physicians trained in the USA and osteopaths worldwide.
